Kate Moss

I love Kate Moss's style (or should it be "Moss') and how she breaks all the rules and looks so great...whether looking intentionally or unintentionally put together. Here she makes work attire look so glamorous.

Oscars

Tons of blogs are showing all the Oscar fashions, so I'll stick with posting my favorite dress. Jessica Biel did it for me. I love the fitted satin--simple, but with the original details.

My favorite makeup was Heidi Klum. The bronze goddess, complete with icy pale lips.

My favorite hair was a tie between Jennifer Aniston and Marisa Tomei (with an honorable mention to Vanessa Hudgens.) Here is a link with a how-to for Marisa's hair if you're interested:

I also was amazed at how Angelina can rock a black dress AGAIN and make it glamorous and fresh!

Freida

I saw "Slumdog Millionaire" last weekend and fell in love with Freida Pinto. She is so beautiful.

Urban Decay Primer Potion Sin

So, I blogged about the new Urban Decay Primer Potion. I broke down and bought it...and love it!! It is not as creaseproof as the original PP, but is perfect for wearing alone. The color is very similar to Stila Kitten or MAC Shroom--your basic neutral shimmer. I took an informal poll at work to see what the girls thought. They unanimously said that it brightens my eyes! Done.

I don't like to own too many eye products. I am usually very simplistic in the morning. Therefore, I'm very picky about adding to my collection. This is so versatile and long-lasting. I have had to blend in a little creasing late in the day, though.

I slap that stuff on, with or without liquid liner. I have also used a darker brown and smudged it in my crease, right on top of it. It stayed perfectly.

And it suits my very subtle makeup look just fine. I am only wearing the Sin and mascara on my eyes.

Fat Girl!!

So my friend Julia, a reader of my very shallow blog, started her own blog a few weeks ago. It is a much less shallow blog, full of brilliant and original recipe ideas. She is seriously a genius. I am amazed everytime I read it. I have bookmarked so many recipes, and can't decide which to do first.

Shop It To Me

I don't know if I've ever written about it before, but last summer, one of my friends referred me to "Shop it to Me." It's so much fun.

You sign up and put in what kind of stuff you usually look for--clothes, bags, shoes, etc--and what brands/stores you shop at. Every single day, they send you an email with items you may be interested in.

I get inspired by all the Banana Republic, Free People, Nordstrom, Gap, J. Crew, etc stuff I see everyday.

Try it!

Mix Your Own Nail Colors

Glamour has a fun little article on mixing your own nail polish.

I loved that. What I'm not loving is the obsession with two nail trends: minxing (the foil look) and painting on a half moon of white on the bottom of the nail--as seen in the above picture. I guess I'm just not that fashion forward.

Check on DIY nail color mixing.

Decision Reached

Wow, I'm really getting the hang of this decision-making thing. First, I went for the iPhone. Yes, there are some things that I miss about the ever-efficient Blackberry...but, overall, I'm pretty pleased.

Today I kept my niece entertained at lunch with some YouTube Elmo on the ol' iPhone.

As far as bangs are concerned, I've decided to go for it before the weather gets too hot to have anything touching my forehead. Most likely, I'll continue the cycle of the last few years of cutting-them-then-growing-them-out. Oh well...

I also realized that, since I don't have a stylist or many well-paid people to discuss what is most flattering to my face shape, I have to rely on celebrities who have those teams of people...and similar bone structure.

Therefore, I look for celebrities with heart-shaped (wide) faces--Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Rachel Weiz and Helena Christensen. Here are a couple great pics of Helena's versatile bangs:

BANGS!!!

I am SO over the front of my hair right now. I have been keeping myself occupied with hats on weekends, various rolls/braids in the front of it. But, still, I long for bangs.

I am seriously thinking about these, even though I had these about a year ago and then grew them out.

Argh, decisions in life. I finally decided on a new phone, got my iPhone. Now, have to have another decision to mull over.

Nail Secret

So, I had the most amazing pedicure of my life at a spa last November (part of a spa birthday gift.) That polish also stayed on for FIVE WEEKS, people. That is not the norm for me. I wear heels every workday, and I could not believe it. I mean, I am a huge fan of my normal topcoat that I have written about on here, so couldn't figure out the secret.

It finally occurred to me that it was the OPI Drip Dry drops she used.

I finally bought them last Friday and used them on my toes (a fun OPI bronze from the Australia collection.) Not only did the polish dry so quickly that I could put on Uggs within five minutes, but the jojoba oil is so moisturizing.

Get it!!!

I'll see if this lasts five weeks!

Jennifer Hudson

I was just talking about Jennifer Hudson's amazing performance of the national anthem at the Super Bowl with some people tonight. Secretly, I was also thinking about how much I loved her whole look. She looked stunning.

Work Attire

I have to wear blazers to work everyday. In the seven months that I've been there now, I have built up a bigger collection of blazers to choose from. It is fairly simple to throw together outfits now.

However, I wish I looked as glamorous in my work suits as Jennifer Aniston does...

I guess super expensive suits--expertly tailored to fit one's own body perfectly--and the best hair/makeup professionals is a little bit different than my lifestyle.

Pale Lips

I have been obsessed with the super pale lips that I first started to see everywhere last summer. I'm loving my Cover Girl lipstick to achieve this, but was super excited to see this article on Glamour.com.

Universals

There are not too many beauty tricks or products that every woman needs. Each of us pretty much knows what we need to, not look like a different person, but look like the best version of ourselves.

Two things, however, I think that really flatters MOST women...

1. Smoothing the eyebrows with brow gel or vaseline (or similar product.) I really like Benefit Speed Brow, tinted in light brown. I sweep my brows in an upward motion to lift the arch and just make them look a little more groomed...even when I am not really much much makeup at all on the weekends. I have been out of the gel for about a month, and just use my Rosebud Salve...the multi-tasking product (used on lips, as a sheen on the eyelids, cuticles, dry patches or to smooth the brows.)

2. Curling the eyelashes.
I know a couple of girls with beautiful, long, perfectly curled eyelashes. You know, the ones who complain about their lashes being too long and curly. Well, other than them, MOST of us just look brighter eyed and more awake/perky with this simple trick. Again, I do this when all I'm wearing is tinted moisturizer, blush and lip gloss.
